Select "Two's Company Part 2."
Select the third set of words.
Give students time to play with the words:
Have students use markers on desk or dry erase boards or pencil and paper to create a 2-square. As students work, walk around the room to help give students ideas and ask questions about what they're drawing.
2-Square:
Write synonyms--words that mean the same.
Write examples/scenarios/situations that illustrate the word. For example, for sagacious (which means wise), they might write a judge, Solomon, jeopardy winner (the game show).
Draw a pic.
Let students share with a partner to see if the partner can guess the word.
Repeat, until students have had an opportunity to play with several words.
OR
Have students write a story or perform a skit using vocabulary word(s).
Encourage them to think of how the word would be used.
For example, a speed bump deters drivers from driving too fast. Students could act out this scenario (one being a car, perhaps another narrating) to illustrate the meaning of the word.
Remind them that the vocab videos are simply applications of the words--the actors act out a scenario that illustrates the meaning of a word.
Require each group to use the word in a sentence in their skit or story.
inflammatory, equanimity, deter, veiled, discord
