Today's Activities:
  • Word of the Week: Synthesize
    • According to dictionary.com
      • to form (a material or abstract entity) by combining parts or elements( opposed to analyze):to synthesize a statement.
    • Example:
      • Whenever you report to a friend the things several other friends have said about a film or CD you engage in synthesis. (Source.)
    • Prefix syn means...
    • This year, in class, advisees will be asked to synthesize informaton as they work collaboratively utilizing Project-Based Learning.
      • If advisees have not heard about PBL, then explain the method to them.
      • If they have heard, ask for an example of synthesis within their PBL.
  • Current Event
    • Click here and allow students to read news article.
        • When finished, discuss:
          • What is happening?
          • Who is involved (countries, parties, people)?
          • Where is this taking place (part of the world)? If you have Google Earth installed on your computer, you might use it. Start at Batesville.
          • Why is this happening?
          • How does this affect me?
