Today's Words (linked to search of New York Times articles using words): inundate, garish, underscore, haughty, transient
  • Show the Vocab videos.

    • Log in with your username and password.
    • Click on +"Video Library" in blue bar at top of page.
    • Select "Two's Company Part 1."
    • Select the first set of words.
  • Review the words with the whole class to make sure they understand their meaning.
  • Allow students to work in groups to "play" with words by...
    • Writing and acting out a skit of their own that portrays the meaning of a word,
    • Drawing a picture/sketch to illustrate meaning of word(s)
    • Complete a graphic organizer (a copy you give or simply have students create one on paper or dry erase board) to list synonyms, antonyms, write a sentence, draw a pic). .
    • Write a story using all five (5) words and share with class
    • Talk about examples, non-examples, synonyms, and antonyms, create sentences using word in context.
  • Optional: Display, read aloud, and discuss a few sentences (linked to words above) from the New York Times that uses the word in context.
